Check in to hotel and get good night rest. Enjoy sightseeing in Addis Ababa and touring the National Museum and the Ethiopian Ethnological Museum. You will have a tour of Haile Selassie’s former palace which is now the home of the Ethnological Museum. The National Museum, known to be the best museum in Africa, where cultural and archaeological relics are displayed at the permanent residence of “Lucy” the 3.2 million-year old Hominid. Then drive out to Mt. Entoto for a breathtaking view of the city and enjoy the natural beauty of Ethiopia. Return to the city and enjoy a trip to Merkato for shopping in the outdoor market. Hotel accommodations: Sheraton Day 3 In morning, fly to Bahir Dar. Bahir Dar is a pleasant city located on the shores of Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. There are 37 islands on lake Tana and 30 of them have churches and monasteries of considerable historical and cultural interest. Upon arrival in Bahir Dar, check in to hotel. Take a boat ride on Lake Tana to admire the beautiful monasteries. Later in the day, embark on a city tour of Bahir Dar, visiting the marketing, the Palace of Emperor Haile Selassie, the Weyto Village, and the Trinity school. Hotel accommodations: Tana Hotel Day 4 In the early morning, optional tour to the Blue Nile Falls. You will drive to Gondar and visit the village of Awra Amba while on the way. This unique settlement is considered a prime model for gender equality. Upon arrival in Gondar, check into hotel. In Gondar, there are a dozen castles built by various emperors over the course of 236 years. Visit the royal enclosure containing six castles, a complex network of connecting tunnels, raised walkways and several smaller buildings. Then, take a tour of the bathing palace of King Fasilidas. You will then proceed to the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie Church with its walls and ceilings decorated with scenes of Biblical lore and medieval history.
